Milkmaid Mithai Recipe | How to make Orange Fruit Shape Mithai

Hello friends, dessert is a must after your delicious meal but if it is made by you and that too in some innovative shapes, who would not like to have that. I am always fond of those sweets (mithai) which are colorful and in beautiful designs. Why not I tell you how to create one.

I made this orange shape milkmaid mithai with just handful of ingredients . They are perfect for any festivals and kids birthday celebration. Let's know what all you need...

PREPARATION TIME : 20 minutes

COOKING TIME - 10 minutes

SERVES : 4

INGREDIENTS :

1. Condensed milk ( Milkmaid) --  400 ml

2. Milk powder -- 2 to 3 cups

3. Orange food color -- 1/4 tspn

4. Green food color -- 1/4 tspn

5. Ghee -- 1 tspn

STEPS :

1. Heat a pan or kadhai and pour the condensed milk in it and keep on stirring.

2. Add the milk powder in it and keep on stirring so that no lumps are formed.

3. You will see the mixture get more and more thickened and it changes color from white to light brown.

4. Switch off the flame. Divide the mixture into two "unequal" halves.

5. In the larger part, add the orange color and mix properly otherwise it becomes bit difficult to mix when it is cold.

6. In the smaller portion of the mixture, add the green color , mix properly and allow it to cool.

7. Now, when the mixture has cooled down, grease your palms with ghee. Take a small amount of the orange mixture and roll it in the shape of  a ladoo (form a ball shape)

8. Repeat the same process with the all the orange mixture .

9. Now take a very small portion of the green dough to make the leaves. The dough will be sticky so you can easily give the shape of rhombus to the leaf and it will be done.

10. Take the lwangs and pierce it in the middle of the the ladoos (balls) and next to it adjust the leaf.

11. It easily sticks to the way you want and then place them in refrigerator for about 2 hours.

12. Your milkmaid mithai is ready to serve.

Not only the kids but everyone will be delighted to see the cute sweets and they are perfect for birthday parties and festive seasons.

I hope you like the milkmaid mithai. Definitely give it a try and let me know in the comment section below. Do not forget to subscribe my blog.

Food Items Prepared In Holi

Hello friends.... I hope u all had a colorful and safe holi. Holi in India is not only a festival of colors but also a festival of food. People prepare different food items at home to serve the guests who come to play holi. Holi becomes more fun with the home prepared food. So today, I am going to share some of the food items prepared in North India.

Fruit custard

It is one of the simplest dessert to prepare. Various flavored custard powder is available in market. Most loved is the vanilla flavored one. You need to mix the whole packet in approximately 2 kgs of milk and bring it to boil and add sugar. It starts to get thickened, then switch off the flame and cool it. Serve with the fruits like banana, pomegranate, papaya, grapes etc.

Gulab jamun

The gulab jamun mix is also available in market. The powder along with water/milk is used to prepare dough. Small round balls are prepared out of it. They are deep fried and then dipped into sugar syrup.

Samosa

This is one of the most loved snack all over India. Generally, mixture of  mashed potatoes and spices is used in its stuffing but the stuffing may vary from place to place. After stuffing, it is deep fried.

Dahi Vada

The vada are more famous in South India. But now, it is loved and made in all parts of India. The vadas are made up of urad dal paste and then deep fried after which they are soaked in salt water. Then it is served with curd (dahi), imli chutney, black salt, cumin powder, chilli powder, and I tried some pomegranate also.

Gujhiya

The hand made design of gujiya are really unique and adorable. I guess, who discovered this? 😊 The stuffing also varies here, like khoya and dry fruits, badam paste, suji and a lot more.

Khurma / Shakkar pade

It is made up of maida and desi ghee. Cut into diagonal shape and deep fried. It is then soaked into sugar syrup and immediately taken out.

Mixed Namkeen

It is a light snack prepared easily by frying and mixing various ingredients like chura, dry fruits etc.

Namkeen

It is very similar in preparation to that of shakkar pade. The difference is that it is salty and the salt is added in the maida dough itself and then deep fried.

Green chana pakoras

It is a spicy snack prepared with green chanas, besan (chickpea powder), salt and spices. The batter is deep fried and it's ready.

There are many other items which are prepared in Holi but I got hands to these only. I would like to thank my friend "Richa" who prepared six food items of the above and was kind enough to serve me these. I hope you all like these and will try it.
